By Frances O’Neill Zimmerman

Time for newly-re-elected President Obama and the lame Congress of the United States to enact an assault weapons ban and to provide safeguards against easy access to guns and ammo. The old assault weapons law was allowed to expire a couple of years ago, thanks to craven legislators succumbing to pressure from the National Rifle Association.

Here’s my personal random list of incidents of mass-murder perpetrated by
unstable people with access to our uniquely American weapons of mass destruction.

1) Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CN.
2) The shopping mall at Clackamas, OR.
3) A house full of people in Seattle WA.
4) Mall murders and maiming of Rep. Gaby Gifford in Tucson AZ.
5) Columbine High School in CO.
6) Virginia Tech VA.
7) “Batman” movie in Aurora, CO.
8) Washington, D.C./ Northern Virginia random freeway shootings.
9) Chardon High School in Chardon, O.
10) Santana High School in Santee  (San Diego) CA.
11) Kelly Elementary in Carlsbad (San Diego) CA.
12) One-room Amish School in Lancaster County PA.
13) Westside Middle School near Jonesboro AK

In the 1960’s when people were dying in the South in racial conflicts, Texan and President Lyndon Johnson pushed through the Voting Rights Act.

Obama ought to do the same hard brave thing and get us an assault weapons ban.

    I couldn’t agree more.
Funny I had just noticed the alarming number of youtube videos promoting “open carry” by citizens, including:

    and

What, exactly, are these people desiring to do? Are they really scared of a mass murder breaking out for which they will be there to save us poor unarmed citizens, as they imply?
No, I’ve known a few of these types, including a room mate years ago who had eight guns and spent most of saturday in the spare bedroom with a reloading bench, filling boxes of ammo he would use on sunday- right after he hit up a few of the sunday newspaper ads for free kittens, that he would collect and take to impromptu shooting ranges in the east county, and give them a sporting head start.
I guess for some it’s as simple as they really are afraid of walking around without a means to kill anyone who could hurt them.
Often what’s on their mind is the hopes that they will get to use their weapon in a legally calculated opportunity to murder someone, usually a minority, while that person is perpetrating a property crime- and it needn’t be against their property, they’s much rather have it happen in a way they will be perceived as being a “hero” who took out another “dirtbag” while protecting an innocent citizen too liberal to have the sense to carry their own gun. (last part pure sarcasm)
This scenario invariably includes talk about when it may be appropriate to drag the “dirtbag” back over the door step into the house before the police arrive, or place a knife in their hand making sure their own prints don’t get on it.
Worst case is they are the type who will snap and become the mass murderer they pretend they carry to stop from harming us all.
But really how stupid are these people that argue that we’d have less crime with more guns and open carry?
Don’t they realize if we all carried guns, we’d all be solving our problems and conflicts, a lot more often with guns?
I think they do, but they believe that’s okay because they will always have the faster draw.

Until they meet this guy that is. Henry Rollins, the former punk rock singer who saw his best friend killed by a gun right in front of him in Los Angeles years ago, said it best:

“Guns are tools… of the weak.”

Crazy people with easy access to guns kill people. If there were sensible gun control laws crazy people would have a harder time getting guns.

I say Fuck the Second Amendment and the NRA! I wouldn’t even allow hunting. What’s that about? We have to have the second amendment so men can have the pleasure of going out and killing poor defenseless animals? Mass murder is OK because it’s worth it in order to protect our time honored and cherished right to kill animals? I say get rid of all guns. There’s no legitimate purpose for them whatsoever. I wouldn’t defend any gun owner’s right to have a gun for any purpose whatsoever. The same day as the shooting in Conn a man entered a classroom in China bent on destruction. However, he wasn’t able to kill anyone since he was armed only with a knife. He injured 20. People aren’t allowed to own guns in China. In countries where they have gun control like Canada there are only 150 gun deaths a year . Here there are thousands. It’s not right and something’s gotta change. I hope Obama grows a spine and a pair on this one. It’s about time for people to stand up to the NRA.

Screw the Second Amendment!!! And the NRA!!!
