Congress: Memorial Day Recess
ALERT! State level: CA Healthy California Act (Single-payer) passed the Senate Appropriations Committee and next the full State Senate votes on it, possibly this week! Call your State Senator!
Issa’s activities: (Local section)
In the News: 5/25 – Another week, another spin on Issa’s Trumpcare vote: He now says his AHCA vote was just to keep momentum, “to keep the process alive so we could do reform,” and that the [Senate] bill will be a “down payment on change.” He’s urging to protect people with preexisting conditions, safeguard coverage for mental illness and protect people near retirement age from a premium spike (or the “Affordable Care Act” as we like to call it!! Arrgghh!!) LA Times. In a 5/24 press release Issa touted his votes to pass 7 bills that support veterans, NONE OF WHICH HE INTRODUCED OR COSPONSORED. (2 passed unanimously, the rest by voice vote, so Issa did nothing exceptional.)
Appearances: Town Hall, June 3rd in San Juan Capistrano. In true elitist style, Issa makes the process of attending one of his “town halls”’ more opaque and exclusionary every time–mailing postcards about attending to supporters first and scheduling the town hall on the day of March for Truth. Eds. Note: Plus, the on-line registration was full three minutes after midnight.
