There ain’t no ads or revenue streams. There are no paid writers or staff. We’re all volunteers. Half of us are retired or on the verge. So why do we do this?
Because we care.
We do this for nothing in the hope that we can build something.
Thank you for helping us shift the political narrative in San Diego to the left.
Resistance is persistence.

Editor’s Note: This is one in a series of posts reflecting on the paths we’ve traveled.
Ok, so here are some of my personal photos from over the years. Randomly selected and not screened for quality. Other SDFP editors will have to get even by creating their own damned galleries.–Doug P.

Anyone interested in school districts that like charters more than public?
Doug Porter says
Funny you should ask. Stay tuned for a two-part series later this week from Kelly Mayhew.
PRO-TIP: If you search “education” in the search box at the top of our front page (desktop version), you’ll find we’ve done dozens of articles on the subject of charters vs public schools.

I am beginning to think that there are two basic options for City Schools. Reunification and Full Charter.
Full Charter seems to be the way parents are voting with their child’s feet by seeking non state run schools
Reunification is a back to beginnings approach to City Schools. At one time San Diego had separate Elementary and High School / Adult Education districts. Then they “Unified”. Latter the Unified District did unified the Community College schools, as a separate District.
I think parents would prefer a neighborhood based public Elementary District. AND educational objectives would be better served by a reunification of High Schools with the Community College / Adult Education system

Happy Birthday SDFP, I sure didn’t realize you were only 5 because my aged memory doesn’t go back that far anymore. Keep up the good work and just maybe San Diego will start reflecting its’ population instead of La Jolla and Pt. Loma. Good job guys and gals.

Ditto Amen. Thank you for your contribution and art
