A SHOVEL OF COAL FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Snowmen
scratch through windows
with stick fingers
pluck ornaments from eyes
Break into houses
with broken promises
shovel coal down throats
they can’t swallow
Steal the present
from our future
melt forests
into artificial trees.
