PORTRAIT OF MY PARENTS AS LOVERS
I don’t remember
the happy couple
pressed together
between two pages of Midwestern prairie
Never heard the words
love wrote inside high school dance cards
nor do I recall
the white wall of sunlight
smiling off the hood of a 1950’s Ford
whooshing through my blindspot
into review mirror
