Mission Beach
The boardwalk
wakes to surfers
slipping out of morning swells
window washers
wiping away coastal haze
In Belmont Park
workers inspect
the 90-year-old Dipper
Laminated waves of wood
plunge 70 feet above Mission Beach
into twisting turns
foaming:
Dunes
soon staggering summer tourists
upside down
strawberry margarita sunsets
dive bars swilling Motown music
Rings of fire
toss one lover into another
ocean
whirling bands of moonlight:
Slivers of grunion
running onto sand
