ANGRY WHITE MAN IN MY MIRROR

Angry white men
make my pale skin crawl
taking ugly mug shots
under shrouds
inciting walls
burning their black savior’s cross

Angry white men
make me
want to get a skin graft and breast reduction
pounding grotesque chests
throwing weight around the globe:

Circus elephants
stampeding tents of refugees
they created

Angry white men
make me want to shed the exoskeleton
grow my hair longer than lies they weave
pull the shag carpet off skin heads
before they light a cigar too big to swallow

Start another fire they can’t extinguish

The world is sick
sick with angry white men

Let it be known that Frank Gormlie, Patty Jones, Doug Porter, Annie Lane, Brent Beltrán, Anna Daniels, and Rich Kacmar did something necessary and beautiful together for 6 1/2 years.
