Propagating the Nameservers, or What’s the Forwarding Address?

October 31, 2015 by Patty Jones

When moving to a new webhost it can take a little time to propagate the nameservers. Basically, our forwarding address needs to spread through the interwebs so people can find us.

Because web browsers using caching to speed things up you may see a representation of a slightly older version of the site and not know it.

This post is to let you (and us) know that this page is being served from the new host.

Please comment to let us know you are here.   [Read more…]

Open During Construction

May 3, 2015 by Patty Jones

Please, step around the debris as we remodel the place.

Google tells us we need to be more responsive to our mobile customers so we are adding the drive-thru window. I have been sitting in my desk chair 18 of the last 30 hours. Thanks, Frank, for feeding me and making me get out into the sun.   [Read more…]

“Flipping the Bird” at the Holidays – How to Cook the Juiciest Roast Turkey You’ve Ever Tasted

December 23, 2012 by Patty Jones

I want to share a family secret with you – one long held in the Jones family holiday tradition – on the accepted method of “flipping the bird” at the holidays.

Many years ago my mother stumbled through her early morning holiday ritual of prepping a huge turkey for the afternoon feast. Before her first cup of coffee she dropped the bird in the roasting pan and shoved it into the oven. At this point the huge bird was too hot to handle so she basted it, tented it and shoved it back into the oven. The resulting bird has lingered in mouthwatering memory…   [Read more…]

On Probation or Off Parole? You can Vote in California – Register Now!

October 21, 2012 by Patty Jones

While having a conversation about the upcoming Presidential debate I asked a coworker if he was going to be voting. He replied, “I wish I could, but I’m on probation.” Whoa… This was a moment in a busy shop, that is normally filled with Mitt Romney and Ron Paul supporters, where two like minded people had a few minutes to chat. The young man I was talking with is quiet about his political affiliations and before I could respond to his statement we were  surrounded by republicans, once again.

Once I was back at my desk I did a quick internet search and printed a page from the Northern California ACLU website that I handed to him later in the day. He thanked me with a big smile on his face.   [Read more…]

San Diego Free Press Has Suspended Publication as of Dec. 14, 2018

Let it be known that Frank Gormlie, Patty Jones, Doug Porter, Annie Lane, Brent Beltrán, Anna Daniels, and Rich Kacmar did something necessary and beautiful together for 6 1/2 years.
