Tío Emilio and the Secrets of the Ancestors: Chapter 26 — Changes

November 16, 2013 by Richard Juarez

That was the power that Don Emilio was telling us about. The simple powerful truth of our ancient Mexican culture—which is, everything in the Universe is made up of energy, and energy helps us to create our own reality if we focus on increasing our energy, and allow that energy to make magical connections to people, things, and events.

I had just come out of City Hall after getting information about a student internship when I heard a familiar voice.

“Hey, homie, need a lift?”

Tío Emilio and the Secrets of the Ancestors: Chapter 25 — Ending

November 9, 2013 by Richard Juarez

“You must now go deeper, on your own, and allow your own awareness, the knowledge of your higher self, to emerge. As you practice quieting your mind and allowing your full self to emerge, you will be guided internally to live your life to the fullest, in joy and happiness, creating and experiencing all that you can dream and desire. Your world is ready for you to call it forth.” Don Emilio

By Richard Juarez

The next day Tony and I met with Don Emilio and excitedly told him about our amazing experience at the showdown with the guys, and our surprise at the outcome. Don Emilio, of course, seemed not at all surprised that our friends were so supportive of our studies with him, and that they had an interest in learning some of it too. He said this usually happens wherever he teaches young people. Their friends find out about it and want to know more. Young people, he said, seem to have a thirst for this hidden knowledge, and are more open to it than those of previous generations who may carry remnants of the taboos against “the old ways.”   [Read more…]

Tío Emilio and the Secrets of the Ancestors: Chapter 24 — The Showdown

November 2, 2013 by Richard Juarez

“Boys, let me say again, that there is one main truth about the way the Universe works, and that is: You Get What You Focus On, and in that way, You Create Your Own Reality. If you focus on getting beat up or shot, that will be what you bring about in your life. If you carry that negative fear into this meeting, you could reinforce the negative fears of some of those guys.” Don Emilio

By Richard Juarez

A meeting had finally been arranged for Tony and me to go before the guys and talk about our situation. It was just getting dark when I went to Amador’s Market to get Tony so we could walk over there together. But when I got to the store he had bad news for me.

“You go on over, I’ll be there soon. This shouldn’t take but about half an hour more.”   [Read more…]

Tío Emilio and the Secrets of the Ancestors: Chapter 23 — Dealing with the Gang

October 26, 2013 by Richard Juarez

“If you focus on your fears and create thoughts in your mind about a bad outcome, and if because of your fears you send emotional energy to this imagined outcome, by definition you are creating it.” Don Emilio

By Richard Juarez

“Hey bro’, how ya been?” Tomás came up to me at my hall locker at school.

“Hey, Tomás. I’m doing pretty good. Busy as hell, and trying to keep up, but things are going good. What’s going on with you?”

“Oh, same ol’ same ol’. Not much different happening. But …” he paused, “there’s a lot of folks wondering about you. I don’t know if anyone has told you yet, but the guys have been talking about you and Tony leaving your homies.”   [Read more…]

Tío Emilio and the Secrets of the Ancestors: Chapter 22 — Creating Consciously

October 19, 2013 by Richard Juarez

“By using the techniques you have been practicing, you have the power for more than just seeing into a tree or flying with eagles. Through your conscious connection with the Force and All-That-Is, you have the power to attract to yourself whatever you want in life.” Don Emilio
By Richard Juarez

The holidays came and went, and I was back to focusing on the creating exercise, plus as many of the old energy practices as I could. Near the end of the six-week break I felt like I was finally getting the feel for the whole package, except I had some major issues with the creating exercise. I kept changing my mind about what I wanted to put in the thought bubble. I wasn’t so sure it would work for what I really wanted. But I remember Don Emilio said something like don’t try to do the greatest thing ever, just do a simple object. So I was glad to finally get to the second weekend in January for a chance to sit down with him again.   [Read more…]

Tío Emilio and the Secrets of the Ancestors: Chapter 21 — Sending Energy to Thoughts

October 12, 2013 by Richard Juarez

“You create your reality through your thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and intent, which determine your vibration and thus the people, objects, events, and circumstances you attract to your life.” Orin, in Spiritual Growth: Being your Higher Self by Sanaya Roman.

By Richard Juarez

“Welcome back, mijos,” said Don Emilio, as we walked into the garden shed. He was seated next to the worktable.

“Good morning, Don Emilio,” I said cheerfully. It had been three weeks since our last session, and I was anxious to get back to our discussion on creating.

“Happy Thanksgiving, Don Emilio,” added Tony. “Did you celebrate Thanksgiving?”   [Read more…]

Tío Emilio and the Secrets of the Ancestors: Chapter 20 — Creating What We Think About

October 5, 2013 by Richard Juarez

“You create the world that you know. You have been given perhaps the most awesome gift of all: the ability to project your thoughts outward into physical form.” Seth, in Seth Speaks: The Eternal Validity of the Soul, by Jane Roberts.

By Richard Juarez

“That was one weird trip, my eagle friend,” said Tony as he sat down across from me. We had agreed to meet in the quad at school during lunch on Thursday to talk about what happened on the mountain trip. I had wanted to talk with him sooner, but with classes, homework, him working at the store, and all our energy practice, it was tough to find time to get together. It was probably better that we had to wait a few days anyway, to let it all sink in.

“It was weird, all right,” I answered, “but weird good. It was magical. Better than Disneyland.”   [Read more…]

Tío Emilio and the Secrets of the Ancestors: Chapter 19 — Calling Eagles

September 28, 2013 by Richard Juarez

“I have this friend, a Native American, and he showed me a place up here once, quite a few years back, where eagles nest. Although it has been a while, I think I should still be able to find it. It’s hard to lose a mountain.” Liz

By Richard Juarez

We drove north from Paso Picacho past the turnoff for Stonewall Mine, and past the Boy Scout summer camp. I had gone to that summer camp a few years back. I really liked walking around there under the pine trees and out in the meadow where we played games, and hiking up Stonewall Peak and Cuyamaca Peak. We continued driving, past Cuyamaca Lake and then into the little town of Julian. Although mining was the major reason for the town’s early existence, it had become mostly a tourist attraction, a mountain get-away with little shops selling antiques, gemstones, arts and crafts, and its well-known apple pies and apple cider. While on our camping trips, my parents liked to take us into Julian to walk around the town, and sometimes get an apple pie and some cider to take back to camp or to take home.   [Read more…]

Tío Emilio and the Secrets of the Ancestors: Chapter 18 — The Secret Life of Plants

September 21, 2013 by Richard Juarez

The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness. John Muir

By Richard Juarez

I was so excited about this trip to the mountains that I arrived early, and waited for Tony and Don Emilio. When we were finally ready to go, I jumped into the back seat of Tata’s car. Tony sat up front. We took Interstate 8 out to Cuyamaca State Park. It was a nice drive, watching the scenery change from the dry, mostly golden colors of the lower elevation brush, to the greens and browns of oaks and pines, and reddish browns of manzanitas at the higher elevations.   [Read more…]

Tío Emilio and the Secrets of the Ancestors: Chapter 17 — Hoops Two

September 14, 2013 by Richard Juarez

“It’s not just mind reading. It’s about knowing in general, like knowing where the ball is going to be, or knowing that you should go to a certain place and then you find something there that you need. It’s all about keeping a high energy level, and you start to become aware of more things, more than other people. You just know.” Tony

By Richard Juarez

“‘Bout time you guys got here. We’re already warmed up and ready to trounce you.”

Pablito was shooting off his mouth again, acting like the great basketball player that he wasn’t. For some time now, the guys had been bugging us about not hanging out with them much anymore. So we agreed to get together with them to play some basketball in Chicano Park.   [Read more…]

Tío Emilio and the Secrets of the Ancestors: Chapter 16 — The Other Side

September 7, 2013 by Richard Juarez

“We all dream together, and we travel in these other-worldly landscapes, even though we may not be aware of it. You could say we dream our existence into reality.” Don Emilio

By Richard Juarez

It was still overcast when we walked over to see Don Emilio. The overnight fog must have been pretty heavy for it not to burn off by late morning. That made it cooler than usual. A shiver ran through my body as we walked into the yard, from the cold, I thought. Or was it was because of today’s topic? I heard that Don Emilio told Tata that he was going to talk to Tony and me about dreaming. I wondered if it was going to be more about my dream or other things about dreaming.   [Read more…]

Tío Emilio and the Secrets of the Ancestors: Chapter 15 — Increasing Energy

August 31, 2013 by Richard Juarez

“Light energy is pouring down on us constantly…like rain, entering into the top of your head. Let this energy flow through your whole being. Take it in, knowing that your body and spirit are being revitalized with this infusion of light, this energy.” Don Emilio

By Richard Juarez

Tony was fidgeting so much it was obvious he was anxious to talk about what we had done during the month. We had arrived a few minutes early and were already seated as Don Emilio walked in. Once he was seated and ready to begin, he asked us how our practice exercises went.   [Read more…]
