Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired of the Republicans’ War on Women? Sick and tired of being told we’re “not ladylike” when we challenge them? That we “neuter” them when we stand up for our rights? That we shrink their penises with our feminism? (Well, okay, that one’s actually kind of fun, amirite, ladies?)
Are you sick and tired of this?

The Republican Party really doesn’t like us. They don’t want us to have health care. They don’t want us to have equal pay for equal work. They don’t even want to fund programs to fight domestic violence.
Yet, they say there’s no such thing as the War on Women.
They’re wrong. They’re dead wrong. So let’s make them pay. They started this war, but we’re going to win it. And that means sending more, better women to Congress to fight for us.
This weeks good, bad and ugly below the fold.
- File this under no freakin’ duh:
When women are given access to birth control at no cost, the rate of unintended pregnancies and abortions among them drops dramatically, according to a new study published on Thursday in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
- Who wants to bet the Supreme Court will be ruling on birth control before too long? In the Missouri corner, we have a ruling that, no, requiring a mining and ceramics business to comply with the law and allow its employees to obtain birth control through their health insurance would not“have a crippling impact on their ability to survive economically.”Earlier this summer, however, in Colorado, a judge decided that Hercules Industries, Inc., an air-conditioning company, might be horribly oppressed if it were forced to comply with the law because Jesus and freedom and stuff, and thus blocked implementation of the birth control mandate. So, which judge is right? Stay tuned …
- Here is one case, however, the Supreme Court won’t be deciding on account of how stupid it is:
The Supreme Court won’t reconsider a decision stopping a Nebraska anti-abortion group from fighting for an abortion law that requires health screenings for women seeking abortions.
That was the law that would have required mental health screenings for women seeking abortions because if a doctor decides you’re too unstable to have an abortion, you should definitely have a baby. Fortunately, the entire American judicial system disagrees. Suck it, forced birthers, you lose this round.
- Hitting back against accusations of not being a strong supporter of women because you oppose the expansion of the Violence Against Women Act? This Republican candidate for Congress is doing it soooooooo wrong:
Republican congressional candidate Brendan Doherty on Thursday hit back against accusations that he isn’t a strong supporter of women by attacking incumbent Democratic Rep. David Cicilline for his past as a defense attorney who represented criminals accused of hurting women.Doherty, former head of the state police, held a news conference at a boxing gym to declare that ‘‘the gloves are off’’ in his race against Cicilline, who was a criminal defense lawyer before going into politics full time in 2002.
- Even in “liberal” New York:
A Sunset Park abortion clinic has shut down after Catholic protesters drove away doctors and patients, according to the owner of the clinic.
The Ambulatory Specialty Surgery Center of Brooklyn on 43rd St., closed earlier this month and will reopen in October as a new medical center providing outpatient surgeries, but not abortion.
Catholic leaders claimed the clinic’s closure after 22 years as a victory for their anti-abortion effort. Abortion advocates said they had never heard of a clinic in the city closing under pressure from protesters. - Planned Parenthood has been running very effective ads in swing states to drive home just how awful a Romney presidency would be for women. This week, they ran ads in Colorado to really drive the message home during the first presidential debate:
Between PPAF and PPVotes, plans include targeted television, mobile and online ads, a rally on Tuesday featuring PPAF President Cecile Richards, and a giant movable chalkboard in downtown Denver “where pedestrians can paint their questions” for Romney. The groups describe their work as “painting Denver pink” for the debate. Colorado is a swing state in this election, and its female voters could decide which candidate succeeds.
Romney responded by saying (paraphrasing only slightly), “Nuh uh, blah blah blah, I love women.” Too bad for Mitt, women don’t love him back.
- Your laugh-out-loud headline of the week:
Newly Unemployed Woman Enjoys Equal Pay For First Time In Career
Now go forth, sluts, and raise hell.
“The Republican Party really doesn’t like us.”
The only problem with that is a good chunk of republicans are in fact women.
