The economy is a hostage only because the President won’t exercise constitutional authority to take the debt ceiling negotiations off the table. There is considerable constitutional authority in the language of the 14th Amendment itself suggesting pretty clearly that Congressional establishment of a debt ceiling itself is unconstitutional. Right now, the debt ceiling and the associated drama exist because the President allows it.

Weird the things Obama decides to blow his presidential powers on, namely domestic surveillance, drones, and prolonging and starting and funding overt and covert wars all over the world, all of very dubious constitutional authority.

Maybe a compromise will be reached, maybe not. Certainly, the world won’t end because of it and eventually the Demobots will do their modified version of the Vichy shuffle to the right on every demand, and, then go back to their favorite political tactic, which is appearing on MSNBC and wringing their hands in desperation at how c-c-c-crazy the GOP is. It wins Demobots just enough races so they can unwittingly share the blame as economic conditions for the majority of the country deteriorate.

Oh, I just can’t use that kind of language, in a public forum…

(But, I am very definitely THINKING IT, bunch of infantile clowns…)

Think locally, about our elected Democrats; they get so quickly invested during the chuckles over meals with lobbyists and the consequent campaign contributions from Downtown Inc. that they become Todd Gloria, Lorena Gonzalez, and Jess Durfee (and others), DINOs riding the donkey, aspiring to jobs with their benefactors, which Fletcher Nathan was granted by Qualcomm at more than $400,000 per year before his mystical conversion to the party of the Democrats.
What will be the difference between a vote for Fletcher Nathan, today a Democrat, and one for Nathan Fletcher before his job with Qualcomm, when he was Duke Cunningham’s local boy? For that matter, what will be the difference between a vote for Fletcher Nathan, today a Democrat, and Kevin Faulconer, an undisguised
    Republican?

Usually, politicians only get those cushy job when they leave “public service” to “spend more time with their families.” Nathan Fletcher got his cushy job before his run for Mayor. How is he going to top $400,000 a year after he serves as Mayor.

Let it be known that Frank Gormlie, Patty Jones, Doug Porter, Annie Lane, Brent Beltrán, Anna Daniels, and Rich Kacmar did something necessary and beautiful together for 6 1/2 years. Together, we advanced the cause of journalism by advancing the cause of justice. It has been a helluva ride. "Sometimes a great notion..." (Click here for more details)
