UPDATE: The paper apologized in Sunday. See below.
I gotta let the picture do the talking here (I added the banner before I posted it to Facebook):
Something like a gun ad next to a school shooting story might not be surprising coming from a small town paper, where the production may be automated and the editor doesn’t give a damn. But we’re talking about the newspaper of record for the eighth largest city in the United States.
UPDATE:
From page A-3 of the Sunday paper:
On Saturday, the U-T published a story about the high school shooting in Centennial, Colo., on a page that also contained an advertisement for a local gun show. The adjacency was unintentional, and the U-T San Diego apologizes for the oversight.
Thank goodness the SD Free Press is here to educate the masses.
What is Papa Dug smoking?
This is not a newspaper it is one big ad with a sports page. Look at the social page to see who is kissing the ass of “popa doug” to be seen in the social section.
Sickening!
SD-Union-Tribune SHOULD be better. This is but one example. UT is written at 4th grade level. Empty of stories that matter. Just recycled national news. Good weather newscasters don’t stick around San Diego as there is no weather to report. Good journalists (@DaveRiceSD and @Debbi_Baker the exceptions who prove the rule) don’t stick around San Diego as there is no reputable publication for which to write. The UT stopped tweeting in March (See @sdUTtweets) apparently thinking their untweeted stories would somehow get read more? Not.
Are there any adults involved? If so, where were they?
