SAN DIEGO
They say San Diego has one season
when Fall is a fire ring of Santa Ana winds tearing through trees
When Winter frost gathers in avocado groves
the maze of San Dieguito riverbed
predicting flood
When Spring is a firestorm of poppies
ranunculus running in formation down Carlsbad hills
they say San Diego has one season
Summer evaporation emptying reservoirs
automatic sprinklers dancing the tango on golf courses
from desert to coast
