Look for me
where mountains are rising
stone circle sun
Dammed river
running beneath burned Lake
The legendary monster
Hodgee
snaking through thirsty trees trunks:
Lodge poles
supporting boulders of clouds
Smoldering in branches
signaling smoke
Snapping
flowers (showers)
from blackened beads (seeds)
Setting water on fire
Notes: “Hodgee,” was the name bestowed upon a legendary monster said to live in Lake Hodges. In 1918, the indigenous people (who lived along the San Dieguito River) warned The Vulcan Water Company not to dam the river because of the infamous beast.
Cool.
