POLITICAL MYTHOLOGY
In the old world
a familiar story
The king constructs a labyrinth
because Minotaurs
must be fed
It requires a beast
to kick eyes into dust
and steal a crown
In the ancient world
where people
don’t dam
the aqueducts of metaphor
in mazes
Countries overrun
by blood thirsty bulls
aren’t new
It’s the same old shit
Love your poem, Ishmael. It’s just that this shit is pretty scary for someone who didn’t experience it back in Alexander’s time. But your poem helps keep it all in perspective. Thank you.
