Time for a “Feel Good” video. Here’s a sweet animated short about a school kid coping with a crush on a classmate. It’s by two recent graduates of Ringling College of Art and Design, Beth David and Esteban Bravo, who created it in satisfaction of their senior thesis. The story sensitively unfolds, wordlessly and with a rich musical score by Arturo Cardelús.
(FWIW, I suspect that folks who have an issue with the young couple being same sex, are likely the same ones for whom a Supreme Court of twelve black lesbians would cause palpitations, while one of twelve white guys wouldn’t seem stacked at all.)
We at San Diego Free Press love watching all kinds of video. Those short visual stories entertain, inform, and agitate in a way completely different from the written word.
Since our platform is about expressing ideas and ideals instead of cash flow, clicks, or fundraising, we have the freedom to include a wide range of topics and formats that might not work elsewhere. We don’t need or want paid content, promotional materials, or story lines designed to please donors.
So the idea here is to present videos one or more of the editors feel speaks to them. Sometimes it will be news. Sometimes it will be history. And a lot of the time it will be culture. You can not and should not separate these things: it is diversity and intersectionality that makes our movement strong.

What a sweet little cartoon. Your write up about it compelled me to watch and I am glad I did! Nice to have the Free Press in another dimension.
Thank you, Susan. Glad to hear you enjoyed the video! Formerly, we had a little widget in the sidebar where we featured a daily video, but the sidebar widgets aren’t mobile device friendly and didn’t get much attention. The videos were only available on that day, also. Now that we’ve using the typical post format, I think we’re reaching more folks with mobile devices and the videos stay available past the day when we initially post them.
And as our little blurb at the end says, we’re open to suggestions from our readers! Let us know when you discover something that you’d like to share.

What is the opening song being played by the piano. I have heard that and cannot think of it. The score is magnificent as the film itself. Thanks
