UPDATE: It’s funded and should be up in time for Trump’s visit.
If protests aren’t your thing, there’s now another way for San Diegans to express their opposition to Trump.
As I’m writing this post on Saturday morning, there are a half-dozen protests, press conferences, and rallies announced in anticipation of a Presidental visit to San Diego for the purpose of inspecting prototypes of a border barrier erected in Otay Mesa. Additional responses are being organized for an expected stop later in the day by Trump at a GOP fundraiser in Beverley Hills.

Fourteen organizations in the San Diego have joined forces to fundraise for a digital billboard aimed at countering the pro-Border Wall message Donald Trump is expected to deliver on Tuesday, March 13. The 10 X 20 Digitron billboard at the San Ysidro border crossing, will be visible to those crossing the border from Tijuana. It is expected the message will garner up to 150,000 daily views during the average 100-minute border wait, running for 20 seconds three times every hour, 24 hours a day for 28 days.
As of Saturday morning, about half of the $6000 needed to pay for the message has been raised via a Plumfund page. Any monies raised over the minimum needed will be used to extend the life of the message.
Organizations promoting the effort include San Diego County Indivisible. Indivisible San Diego Central, San Diego Indivisible Downtown, Indivisible 49, San Diego Indivisible Districts 52 & 53, Indivisible La Jolla & Pacific Beach, Women’s March San Diego, Change Begins with ME, Indivisible Resistance San Diego, Indivisible 50, Together We Will-North San Diego County, Defending Our Future CA-52, Indivisible Ocean Hills, Borregans4Democracy.

Also, I’ll be updating a page about anti-Trump demonstrations here. Oh, and the County of San Diego is kinda freaking out about demonstrations near the border; learn about those restrictions here.
Good info! Thanks!
Re the billboard: I don’t think that the people crossing are the ones that need convincing that the wall is a dumb idea. More, those in Beverly Hills, or maybe Rancho Bernardo.
I agree. Lovely idea, but not in the right spot. Need a redo on THIS side.
No company on this side of the border would agree to sell billboard space, according to the organizers. As of Sunday morning (it was posted late Friday), they are $900 short of raising the $6000 needed.
