Pillar of Delay / The Beauty is in the Making

Pillar of Delay by Morris Louis; image MOCA fb

We dripped from the hands of the Creator
Wonderstruck by the possibilities
Beaded there together, a bright and motley crew
The rapture of our ignorance obscured the inevitable

The uncharted plane tipped, propelling us forward
We started running, then we began to stream
We raced with the wind, the natural world was on our side
And everything became a dazzling and ineffable blur

We soon slowed to the edge of the terrain
And looked back on how far we’d come
Where we each stood alone, then flowed together,
And the moment we began to drift apart
Then, we knew
This was the end

They will marvel at the canvas
Seeing the beauty of us lying in our final resting places
All that remains of the thrill we were chasing
But the joy that was lives on in the spell past
For the beauty was in the making

San Diego Free Press Has Suspended Publication as of Dec. 14, 2018

Let it be known that Frank Gormlie, Patty Jones, Doug Porter, Annie Lane, Brent Beltrán, Anna Daniels, and Rich Kacmar did something necessary and beautiful together for 6 1/2 years. Together, we advanced the cause of journalism by advancing the cause of justice. It has been a helluva ride. "Sometimes a great notion..." (Click here for more details)
