Eugene, Oregon is not San Diego, but it is not so radically different that the same kind of approach to providing shelter to the unsheltered will not work. This tiny home village in Eugene has already saved lives and the same successes are possible here in San Diego. What’s needed in San Diego is the political will to get it done.
Since our platform is about expressing ideas and ideals instead of cash flow, clicks, or fundraising, we have the freedom to include a wide range of topics and formats that might not work elsewhere. We don’t need or want paid content, promotional materials, or story lines designed to please donors.
So the idea here is to present videos one or more of the editors feel speaks to them. Sometimes it will be news. Sometimes it will be history. And a lot of the time it will be culture. You can not and should not separate these things: it is diversity and intersectionality that makes our movement strong.
Feel free to suggest videos at contact@sandiegofreepress.org
What a refreshing sight! A small village of tiny houses in which people can live respectably and safely. It could be done here and there around San Diego County as one part of the solution to homelessness. There are many reasons why people are homeless, and the biggest ones have nothing to do with individual character or willingness to work. On the other side of the coin, our refusal to undertake workable solutions to the problem has many reasons too, and the biggest ones do have something to do with the character of our community and our willingness to work on serious matters that affect us all.
