All In’s Chris Hayes speaks with Rep. Beta O’Rourke (D-TX) who visited several immigration facilities in McAllen, Texas this week and tells Chris Hayes what he saw.
One of the detention facilities for the children is here in El Cajon. Chris Hayes speaks with MSNBC’s Gadi Schwartz reporting from outside the facility.
Since our platform is about expressing ideas and ideals instead of cash flow, clicks, or fundraising, we have the freedom to include a wide range of topics and formats that might not work elsewhere. We don’t need or want paid content, promotional materials, or story lines designed to please donors.
So the idea here is to present videos one or more of the editors feel speaks to them. Sometimes it will be news. Sometimes it will be history. And a lot of the time it will be culture. You can not and should not separate these things: it is diversity and intersectionality that makes our movement strong.

Rich, here’s a sampling from the first quotation source I found, re: seizing the children and incarcerating them separately from their family:
New American Standard Bible
“What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”
King James Bible
What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Christian Standard Bible
Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Good choice, Bob! Apparently the passage Sessions chose has a troubling history. The Washington Post notes that John Fea, a professor of American history at Messiah College in Pennsylvania, reports that Romans 13 has historically been used twice: once during the American Revolution when it was used by loyalists to oppose the colonial insurrection; the other time in the 1840s and 1850s by defenders of the South or defenders of slavery to ward off abolitionists who believed that slavery is wrong. Sounds about right. And as the Bard notes, even the Devil can cite Scripture for his purpose.
Sounds about right to me, too.
Thanks, Bob, for the references. It is so sad to see the family upheaval.
I’d bet there are a whole lot of biblical quotes on family values the right wing is practicing to ignore.
