From the Democracy Now! YouTube website:

South Carolina officials are coming under fire for refusing to relocate prisoners in mandatory evacuation zones even as Hurricane Florence barreled down on the state. Prisoners were instead put to work behind bars making sandbags to prepare for the storm’s arrival. We speak with Kymberly Smith, a community organizer with the Party for Socialism and Liberation. She has been protesting South Carolina’s choice to not evacuate prisoners during Hurricane Florence.

Since our platform is about expressing ideas and ideals instead of cash flow, clicks, or fundraising, we have the freedom to include a wide range of topics and formats that might not work elsewhere. We don’t need or want paid content, promotional materials, or story lines designed to please donors.

So the idea here is to present videos one or more of the editors feel speaks to them. Sometimes it will be news. Sometimes it will be history. And a lot of the time it will be culture. You can not and should not separate these things: it is diversity and intersectionality that makes our movement strong.

I think the officers and the Govenor Mcmasters should give an explanation because he said not one person should lose their life over this situation and they have and prisoner’s are people too. Inmates whether they are guilty or not are people. The two women in SC were seeking medical attention not detainees, we see who Govenor Mcmasters sees as people. Prisoner’s do have right’s but only to be miss treated and locked down like animal’s. When you can’t trust governments or law enforcers and you cant trust them who are you supposed to trust? We as people of the United States and we dont have the freedom to speak then our government has gone to hell. U can call government offices for help or ask who can help they send you to other gov phone’s that cant help either. And if you call Mcmasters office they tell you that’s not a question for the Govenor and when ask what job does the Govenor do you do not get a straight answer so corrupt
