In spite of being surrounded by freeway on-ramps and overpasses that attempt to make it appear like an oversight, Barrio Logan represents a culture and community that’s decidedly alive. It’s something that can be felt within seconds of parking, and seen in nearly every direction by way of the skillfully executed murals throughout the neighborhood.
The majority of these photographs were taken while walking along Cesar Chavez Parkway, and there’s still so much more to capture: the port and industrial district, Chicano Park –which is not featured here as it is getting its own photo gallery come Chicano Park Day on April 20 — the Art District, and the San Diego Public Market, just to name a few.

Annie- the photos are as interesting as they are beautiful. The lead photo really got my attention. Beautifully done, Annie!
What a wonderfully colorful place!
Thank you, Anna!
Dianne, it really is.
You really captured the area with the photos which are very unique.
Thanks so much, Anna.
Thank you, Nancy! Btw – congrats on being named the PLDC’s Volunteer of the Year! What you do is so important.
Wow. Words don’t capture the place, but I have to try using them to praise this photo gallery. You seem to have caught on film the message of Logan’s streets that history is still unfolding, and that humor, perspective, struggle, notions of endurance and family will keep us moving and alive. This group of photos is going to find four walls and bright lights someplace. Probably a gallery in Logan.
Bob, I don’t even know what to say. You’re so kind, and a compliment like that means the world coming from you. Thank you.
Nice work, Annie!
Thanks, John!
