By Sunny Rey

I have fallen
again        again and again
in love
with this man
this man who I have met and re-met
in all lightings of the fluorescent-structured street sun
I have seen him glow under and outshine
only to quiet down in the evening
turning half his face away into a shadow
Under the breeze of an after-dusk book
I have heard him
for the first time –         many times
and taken many notes on the depths of decimals in his breaths
I have fallen
hard so hard
I hit our love
and I have fallen softly so softly
I wondered if he knew I had approached at all
And now
I have fallen in what I already accept to be
a state rather than a phase
and I see myself
twirling through the top of a sky
that has bottomed out
with the most glorious smile
I have ever felt my face stretch into

heart-abstract

Very nice Judi, thanks for sharing it. Poetry and expression are all about expressing one’s own unique point of view of the world around them. Reading it we can also share in their views of the world and see it through their eyes.

Let it be known that Frank Gormlie, Patty Jones, Doug Porter, Annie Lane, Brent Beltrán, Anna Daniels, and Rich Kacmar did something necessary and beautiful together for 6 1/2 years. Together, we advanced the cause of journalism by advancing the cause of justice. It has been a helluva ride. "Sometimes a great notion..." (Click here for more details)
