We met, we debated and we agreed, mostly. Here are the people we’d like you to vote for in the June 2014 primary.
The first decision we made was to limit the number of endorsements. We agreed that local races were more important, with the exception of a nod to Derick Cressman for Secretary of State because of his leadership in fighting the influence of Dark Money in California elections.

DON”T FORGET TO VOTE!
You have the wrong district listed for recommended SD Comm College District candidate Peter Zschiesche. Ballot has him listed under E.
I hope people living and voting in new City Council District 6 will look beyond this SDFP recommendation and vote for MITZ LEE, a registered political Independent.
MITZ LEE stands in sharp contrast to the the recommended SDFP candidate who is a pleasant and idealistic young woman from Los Angeles whose main claim to legitimacy as a candidate for City Council is close affiliation with the County Democratic Party apparatus and only four-years’ local residence.
MITZ LEE really is is politically independent; a longtime San Diegan; a Navy wife and mother of two sons who attended Mira Mesa public schools and SDSU; an experienced former trustee at San Diego Unified who sent Superintendent Alan Bersin into retirement and who always stood up for academic standards and fiscal responsibility.
MITZ LEE was the first Filipina ever elected to the San Diego Unified Board of Education; she has worked for years on Asian voter education to improve tepid voter turnout; and she was active in decennial redistricting to assure that Asians in San Diego are properly represented in the halls of power.
Please think about it.
Yes, Mitz IS the viable candidate and not the party pick! THIS IS A NON PARTISAN position that the media and parties keep making partisan. Mitz Lee stands for community, for the constituents of her district as a 30 resident, military wife, and mom who was not only ELECTED! but also V.P. of SD Unified School Board! She HELPS the neighborhood & community regularly, not for party power, but for constituent concern. And SHE is doing this because after beating CANCER she has a goal of bettering her community by representation! Get to know her!
Lastly even Ms. Carol has regularly agreed with Mitzs’ stance on almost all issues! (during candidate debate/fourms) Mitz has shown her experience! She is a City leader & community leader, who can teach Ms. Carol the ropes and then hand the reigns to the best next candidate during the next council members race.
Sincerely yours,
Ex-SD dist. 3 candidate 1999 and previously ELECTED rep. in North Park,
Daniel “bzy as a Bee” Beeman
Democrat Nicholas Shestople is filing his paperwork today with 60 signatures to qualify as a write-in candidate in the 75th Assembly District against Marie Waldron.
Either the words progressive and grassroots mean something else and new, or other criteria have been used in covering races. Not that I care if someone wants to endorse me or not. I welcome endorsements and support when they come from the heart and mind and not some alternate motive. I say and, more importantly, do the right thing because it is the right thing and will benefit all not so someone can approve of me. Because it has been derived from the people for the people. I am surprised though that the state senate races were ignored, considering that they cover around ONE MILLION county residents EACH, double the assembly districts, in this endorsement process. So go to my site, fotiosforsenate38.com and decide whether YOU as voters should ENDORSE ME with your vote.

“A runoff will be held on 11/4/2014 between the top 2 candidates who received the most votes. The runoff will be held even if one candidate receives a majority of votes in this election.”
Given that there are only two candidates on the ballot for D-38, this primary is basically a dress rehearsal for November.
We also chose to limit the choices to races that were “top of mind” for us. We wanted to keep it simple.
Fair enough, though there are races here with one running unopposed that got endorsements, while lack of opinion in races “dress rehearsals” sends the message that those races are not important at this time to express an opinion or even bother to vote. I don’t know if you are familiar with the circus of politics, I am just getting familiarized, but the show during the primary, specially for challengers, determines future fundraising activity, support from more sources, TV and news coverage of positions, etc., specially when they face ENTRENCHED well funded by corporations, incumbents. Failing to endorse capable, serious candidates in a primary while endorsing candidates in one person races is not grassroots breaking or progressive. Without mentioning names, there are groups in town and in the state, that automatically endorse incumbents and safe district candidates, regardless of political affiliation, in what I call MUTUAL PROSTITUTION where money matters more than people. Don’t fall in to the trap. Thank you.
You’d catch a lot more press from us by reaching out than with accusations and a pissed off tone. (ie,”progressive and grassroots mean something else, etc.”)
No slight was intended. We’re an all-volunteer non-commercial group doing this because we love it.
It costs nothing to email a press release or to use social media…. I’m going out to dinner… Have a good night…
Hearing a knock on my door late Memorial day, I leaned in to see who got my wife to open the door. Incredibly, the face matched the flyer, Carol Kim! This is the first time in my 28 years living in Mira Mesa I have ever seen a candidate come to my door, so I now am a proud supporter and have a CAROL KIM sign in my lawn!
