bern rally 6I’m giving up my daily space at San Diego Free Press to the masses today. Starting at 9am or thereabouts I’ll do regular updates with All Things Bernie. I’ll stop posting at about 9pm, rolling the best of the best into tomorrow’s column.

I need your help! If you hear something on the radio, see it in social media, witness something in the streets or see a worthy story on the web, sent it my way. I’ll distill the best of, do rumor control, fact check if needed and give you credit if you want it.

I want links, tweet, photos, you name it. This is how we beat the mainstream media when it comes to covering Bernie. Tweet me @dougporter506 or hashtag #SDBern,  or post to SDFP’s Facebook page. You can send emails to Contact@SanDiegoFreePress.Org
Let’s Do This!
PS– Be positive! This is about Bernie Sanders and San Diego. Save your #NotHillary for Facebook or wherever.

Reader Contribution- Jay Powell, Feelin’ the Bern

Bernie Sanders is the 21st Century political voice of 20th Century Buckminster Fuller.

Buckminster fuller play adI had the opportunity last Saturday to attend the play “R. Buckminster Fuller: THE HISTORY (and Mystery) OF THE UNIVERSE”  on the Lyceum Stage at the SD Repertory Theatre. There is an excellent review by James Hebert in the SD Union Tribune, Sat, March 19, 2016 which gives the schedule of the run thru April 3.  I highly recommend this play.

Fuller is known by most as the inventor of the geodesic dome, but his legacy is far beyond that accomplishment.  Ron Campbell who debuted the original version 16 years ago at the Rep does an extraordinary job of essentially channeling the Bucky Fuller of the 1970’s for 140 minutes in this one man show.

Beyond his talk about humans as “pattern integrities” and the certainty that we have enough resources to provide for all on  planet Earth,  his geopolitical views are well expressed by Campbell.  Fuller called the CIA “Capitalism’s Invisible Army” invented by Wall Street lawyers to exploit the earths resource’s for controlled profits at the expense of the general human welfare.  In spite of this challenge and reality, he inspires and leaves the audience with a profound sense of hope, charging them to do their best to counter these regressive forces.

It would be fascinating to have Bernie enter into a discussion with Ron channeling “Bucky”  at the event tonight at the Convention Center event.

Thanks for opening your column to all of us Bucky fans feeling the Bern!

Let it be known that Frank Gormlie, Patty Jones, Doug Porter, Annie Lane, Brent Beltrán, Anna Daniels, and Rich Kacmar did something necessary and beautiful together for 6 1/2 years. Together, we advanced the cause of journalism by advancing the cause of justice. It has been a helluva ride. "Sometimes a great notion..." (Click here for more details)
