By San Diego Free Press and OB Rag Editors
We anticipate that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will visit San Diego during the California presidential primary campaign.
We at the San Diego Free Press and OB Rag will join with other San Diegans during his campaign stops in our city in expressing our adamant opposition to the racist, xenophobic and misogynist policies espoused by Trump.
And we join in solidarity with those whom Trump has targeted:
- Mexicans
- Muslims
- Women
- Journalists
- Protesters
- LGBTQ community
We believe Trump’s policies are a direct and dangerous threat to what’s left of American democracy. Those of us who believe Trump represents a potential type of American fascism believe that if he is able to assume the mantle of government it will be too late for opponents to express dissent and too late for American freedom.
Upon Trump’s arrival in San Diego, we want to join with others protesting his policies and we will support any and all of those who express their opposition through various forms of non-violent and civil-disobedient direct actions.
These are dangerous and desperate times. The future of American democracy is at stake. Our own future and the future of our children are at stake.
There is no more higher calling now than for San Diegans of every political stripe to show our strong opposition to Donald Trump with actions of conscience.
Please send information about your direct action plans to contact@sandiegofreepress.org

Wherever and whenever it happens, I’ll be there under the sign, “old white guys against trump;” all are invited to join in the fun.
change – or status quo (lawyer/politicians (& mainstream media ‘journalists’ – in service to their banksters masters)?

can america survive any more clinton pandering to extreme minority interests – at the expense of the majority’s welfare?

THE NEW COMMON GROUND BETWEEN POPULIST LEFT & RIGHT
….”we’re seeing the emergence of a new debate where the populist left and right are on the same side:
Both are against the rich to spend as much as they want corrupting our democracy.
Both are against crony capitalism.
Both are against corporate welfare.
Both are against another Wall Street bailout.
Both want to stop subsidizing Big Agriculture, Big Oil, and the pharmaceutical industry.
Both want to close the tax loophole for hedge fund partners.
Both want to ban inside trading on Wall Street.
Both want to stop CEOs from pumping up share prices with stock buy-backs … and then cashing in their stock options.
Both want to stop tax deductions of CEO pay over $1 million.
Both want to get big money out of politics, reverse Citizens United, and restore our democracy,
If we join together, we can make these things happen.”
think about it.
The difference is the populist right wants to run the populist left out of the country and they’re supporting a candidate that is completely antagonistic to their wishes (not the hateful ones, he’s in line with that).
t.j., have you aimed your arguments at your friends on the right?
The day he shows up in San Diego I will be there. For two reason 1. to express my disgust with this man and his policy. 2. to see people that believe in unity against the evil ideas this man represents I need to see that there is more people that support respect, unity and hope for racial harmony among other things.
Does he not have the same right to his opinions as you have of yours. To deny him his beliefs and sentiments, subsequently makes you and your subscribed opinions no differently than your opposition and wish to silence him. Opinions must be applicable in all situations or applicable in none.
Fascists must be confronted and shouted down at any and every opportunity. His opinions are hateful and have no validity.
By “shouting down” someone else’s speech, you display the same fascism you seek to destroy. Silent protest can have even more effect.
“Only love can conquer hate.”
Yeah, tell that to 6 million Jews.
Yeah, tell that to my father who fought in World War II.
Nazis are gone, we Jews are still here. And, as you well know Mr. Gormlie, war is a whole other situation. Unless you and Mr. Beltran really wanna ‘go to war’ with Trump.
Confront, hell yeah (see my first post). But shouting down and doing violence to — no. That’s not how democrats (small ‘d’) roll.
Only love can conquer hate? What kind of hippy dippy bullshit is that? Hate must be confronted and snuffed out. As someone of Mexican descent the rhetoric displayed by Trump is not only an attack on undocumented people but an attack on an entire culture. We take that shit serious. If someone said the shit Trump says to my face I’d fuck them up and there’d be a long line of people behind me willing to do the same.
Your advocacy of violence is disturbing. Why not channel it and “those behind you” sign up to fight ISIS/ISIL, Al Qaeda, Boko Harem and others(which are a very diverse set of beheaders) instead of threatening to beat up folk that oppose illegal immigration, and or those who tacitly seek to destroy this country overtly from inside and outside. Your “speak” as if there’s such great significance in being Mexican descent. No one opposes a nationalist; but if you put your nationalism before your Americanism then shame on you. American is a diverse country, and any and all have a right to be here -legally. However, when on invokes their ethnicity over being an American; then the precedent is set all should do it. Therefore, division is automatically executed. Then is no longer an America, only subdivision based ethnicities, which is the catalyst for strife and internal wars within the country. Are we not learning from the Mideast!
Why would anyone be called a fascist in wishing to protect the sovereignty of their country and its citizens. Hateful to whom? To renounce actions which violate the sovereignty of a nation, to dispel those whom seek to do harm to the nation and its citizens. Only a fool subscribes to allowing others that subscribe to and/or evoking willful,or unwillful advocacy harm to its country, economically, militaristic, covertly or overtly.
To equate Donald’s rights to those of a common citizen is just way out of line. Fascists need to be confronted all the time. Especially here in good ol Southern California.
What in your mind constitutes fascism? And common citizenry defines which and what category you’re referencing. SoCal will be bankrupt in several years due to hug a tree administrators in Sacramento.
Yes, only if its applicable in all situations. People usually will not react until something personally effects them directly. Had Mr.Trump directed his advocacy of curtailing illegal immigration towards any other ethnic group, sans the Hispanic undocs he’s mainly referencing; Ms.Garcia you would have remained silent. Only then renunciation becomes apparent when it directly has a personal impact upon you,and someone you know, or related to. How many displays of support have you shown up at when our vets and soldiers returned with missing legs and arms;or blown to pieces. Its amazing the subjectivity we boldly advocate support, but voiceless when those that are dying to protect that right -lacks a voice of support. Include our law enforcement also. They’re renounced until one needs them. Go figure.
