Entreaty to Politico Spouses

Please, please let your politico spouse
Do some decoration at the house!
Choose the new towels or buy kitchen tiles
Instead of re-development contractor files.

Pharaohs made mortgaged slaves build lasting pyramids, yes,
But destroyed their society and land in the process.
Like human locusts, they devoured the land;
All that’s left now is the pyramids and sand.

Don’t cut living trees to build dead fences,
Cedar and redwood neighbor defenses…
Urban designers with degrees up the wazoo
Are soon to be planning a cement animal zoo.

Act soon, caring spouses, before it’s too late,
For our city Urbania is becoming a “decorator envy” mistake.

If bored in council chambers, or at home,
Take a walk, or write a poem,
Stop designing and plant a peach,
Or build sand castles with your kids on the beach.

Cement is a heavy toxic conviction,
Equal to any drug addict’s addiction,
So please, loving spouses, do not be enablers of this,
And let your politico spouse buy a dish!

Let it be known that Frank Gormlie, Patty Jones, Doug Porter, Annie Lane, Brent Beltrán, Anna Daniels, and Rich Kacmar did something necessary and beautiful together for 6 1/2 years. Together, we advanced the cause of journalism by advancing the cause of justice. It has been a helluva ride. "Sometimes a great notion..." (Click here for more details)
